Being only sixteen, Janie in Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, has a lot to learn about love. She doesn’t quite understand what it means to be in love. For a young girl, she encounters multiple men and has high hopes that she may get what she is expecting. As she experiences each man she realized that her expectations are not reality. Janie changes her expectations of each man as she gains experience in the real world.
