Socratic Discussion

I really enjoyed the change of pace in English. I got to know my classmates as well as experience a new learning method.

The topics were mature but I liked it. Each student asked different questions that allowed me to see their thought process as well as see my thought process reacted.

When Andrew asked about being too young to date in high school I thought it was interesting. A lot of students do date so I never think anything of it. Also in Austen's time we would have already been married!!!! CRAZY!

I think money is still a big issues especially because we have grown up in such lavish and privilege life styles. I want that for my children as well but does that mean I need to marry rich or does it mean I need to work hard myself?

Chatacters: Charlotte & Mr. Collins

  • Charolette - stong willed, does not care to marry for "status" or "approval", does not feel she should be disempowered
  • Mr. Collins - selfish, does not marry for the right reasons, objectifies love, continues to conform with societies expectations
  • Today - people still marry for the wrong reasons : immigration and money, men still ask women, look for money and looks not love

iPads in the Classroom

I enjoyed making videos on our iPads. I thought it was a lot of fun and allowed me to better understand the scene.

The hands on learning process helps me grasp concepts.

I think if we all explored apps we can help one another get that hands on education. Like the article says it doesn't have to be a "P+P App" it can be a app that you would never know it would help!

The Proposal - Mr. Collins + Elizabeth

I believe that marriage is about physically and legally promising to be dedicated to loving somebody for the rest of your life. Mr. Collins does not seem to even think about love in his proposal.

It shows that Elizabeth is a strong women for the time and Mr. Collins does not care.

After watching Soren preform Mr. Collins' proposal I really saw the "humor" in it.
